Jeff Hardy

Matt Hardy

The Matt and Jeff Hardy were born in Cameron, North Carolina. Since they were young boys they had a dream of becoming wrestlers. They decided to pursue their dreams. In 1993, they formed their own wrestling organization called TWF (Trampoline Wrestling Federation), which was run and promoted by Matt, where they mimicked the moves they saw on TV. TWF would have various names until 1997 when it became OMEGA (Organization Of Modern Extreme Grappling Arts). In 1994, the Hardy Boyz became jobbers for the WWF. Matt's first match was a televised match against the Iron Sheik. Jeff's first match was against Razor Ramon. In 1998, Matt and Jeff made an impact defeating Kaientai on an episode of Heat. This would start their climb to fame.

After their defeat of Kaientai, Michaels Hayes would become their manager and they would become serious contenders for the tag team titles. In 1999, they won the WWF Tag Team Titles (later becoming the World Tag Team Titles) defeating The A.P.A (Bradshaw and Farooq), but would lost the titles back to A.P.A a little less than a month later. During August of 1999 the Hardy Boyz turned heel and left Michael Hayes for Gangrel to form the New Brood. This would not last long however. During this time The Hardy Boyz and Edge and Christian had a series of matches for the "Terri Invitational Tournament". The Hardy Boyz would acquire the managerial services of Terri Runnels by winning the last match of the Tournament which was a ladder match. Fans were so impressed with the match that Edge and Christian were given a standing ovation while still and the ring, and Both Teams were given standing ovations the next night on Raw. This would not last long, however, as Terri would turn on them about 2 months later.

After Terri turned on them, Lita joined the duo to form Team Xtreme. With Lita, the Hardy Boyz would gain notoriety as one of the best tag teams ever in WWE. In Oct. of 2001 the Hardy's would defeat Booker T and Test to gain the WCW Tag Team Titles. But lost the titles to The Dudley Boyz 2 weeks later. In 2002, the Hardy Boyz, along with Edge and Christian and the Dudley Boyz, would compete in the first ever Tables, Ladders and Chairs or TLC match. They would not win the match, but at the following months PPV, Unforgiven, they defeated Edge and Christian in a Steel Cage Match to win the Tag Team titles. They lost the titles at the next months PPV but quickly won them back on the following night's Raw. In April and May of 2001 the Hardy Boyz would compete in TLC 2 & 3 but would not walk away victorious. They would go on to win the Tag Team titles 2 more times before their eventual split in 2002.

However, In 2006, after Jeff Hardy returned to WWE it would not take long for the Hardy Boyz to reunite. In September of 2006 Matt, Jeff and Lita would appear on WWE TV together for the first time in over 4 years. In November every Hardy fan would get their wish, as Matt and Jeff, now The Hardys, would team up again for the first time in over 4 years in a warm up match on ECW. It was announced earlier that month that The Hardys would team with DX and CM Punk at Survivor Series in a traditional Survivor Series match against Team Rated RKO (Randy Orton, Edge, Johnny Nitro, Shane Helms and Tommy Dreamer). At Survivor Series Team DX would become the first team to win a traditional Survivor Series Match with all members still remaining. The only person in the match not have pinned someone to eliminate them would be Jeff Hardy. The following night on Raw, The Hardy's would have their shot to reclaim gold in a match against Rated RKO but would lose when Randy Orton got himself intentionally disqualified.

Earlier that day, The Hardy's issued an open challenge to any Tag Team in a match at ECW's December to Dismember. The challenge was accepted by MNM (Johnny Nitro and Joey Mercury along with Melina). The Hardy's won the match thus starting a feud with MNM that was carried on both SmackDown and Raw. At Armageddon in Dec. of 2006, The Hardys would get their first chance to hold the WWE Tag Team Titles, which they had never held. The Hardys, along with MNM, and Dave Taylor and William Regal challenged London and Kendrick in a 4 team Ladder Match. The Hardys lost the match but in the process, they broke Joey Mercury's nose during one of their stunts involving the ladder. Thus, continued the MNM/Hardy Feud. While Nitro and Jeff continued to battle over the Intercontinental Championship on Raw, Matt and Joey would continue to battle on SmackDown!. Both Nitro and Mercury tried to damage Jeff and Matt's faces claiming that they had damaged Mercury's "Hollywood Good Looks". The feud would come to an end at No Way Out of 2007.

Despite still being a Tag Team, Matt and Jeff competed against each other and 6 other competors at Wrestlemania 23 in the Money In The Bank Ladder Match. The match was won by Mr. Kennedy. However, Jeff stole the show with a 20ft leg drop of a ladder set up in the ring onto Edge, who was laying on a ladder that was held up by the ring and the security railing. Both men were removed from the ring on stretchers.

The following night on Raw, Matt and Jeff would team up in a 10 tag team over the top battle royal, to regain the World Tag Team Titles for the 8th time, after Michaels, who was one half of the current tag team champions, threw Cena over the top rope eliminating Cena and Himself. They would go on to start one of the best Tag Team feuds of 2007 with Lance Cade and Trevor Murdock. Although they lost singles matches to Cade and Murdock, the Hardys retained their titles at Backlash and Judgement Day in matches against Cade and Murdock. They also retained their titles at One night Stand against The Worlds Greatest Tag Team (Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Hass) in a brutal ladder match. However, the next night on Raw, The Hardys lost the titles in a match against Cade and Murdock after Jeff missed the Swanton and was pinned by Cade. Jeff did get his foot on the bottom rope, but the referee did not see it before Murdock pushed it off. When Cade and Murdock were confronted about it by Matt, they attacked both Matt and Jeff with the belts. At Vengeance they challenged Cade and Murdock in a rematch but lost when Cade hit a sit-out spine buster on Jeff for the pin. In November the Hardy boys reunited again to face MVP and Mr. Kennedy in a match on ECW. MVP and Mr. Kennedy won the match.
